LARGE CHINESE MIXED MEDIA PAINTING BY LAI SHAOQI
Lai Shaoqi, Chinese, 1915 to 2000, a large mixed media, ink and watercolor on scroll paper depicting a waterfall set within dense of growing between mountain rock out crop landscape. Characterized with attractive pale brown overbold grisaille brush strokes. Signed and inscribed with calligraphy inscriptions, followed by Lai Shaoqi iron-red signature seals, upper left. Mounted on pale creme silk border. As a Chinese painting master in the 20th century, Lai Shaoqi is a versatile artistic genius with extraordinary achievements in print making, ink wash painting, calligraphy, seal cutting, poem and playwriting.
