IMPORTANT JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD CLOISONNE VASE
An important high quality antique Japanese Meiji era flower vase. Circa the late 19th century or early 20th century. The baluster shaped vase is enameled with polychrome medallions bearing images of phoenix birds and dragons surrounded by highly detailed floral and foliage motifs with butterflies made using the cloisonne technique on a glossy red ground. The ware is decorated with scrollwork motifs to the shoulder and neck and has bands with geometric patterns to the neck and base. Unmarked.
