Paul Augustin Aizpiri, French, Japanese, 1919 to 2016, oil painting on board depicting a portrait of a harlequin. Signed lower left. Circa: 1950s to 1980s. Framed. Paul Aizpiri is known for Post expressionist painting and sculpture. Paul Aizpiri has a unique style reminiscent of Edvard Munch. Roughness in his brushstroke and use of bold colors, allow each of his characters and situations come to life with raw emotion. Surely inspired by his Basque background, Aizpiri continually challenges the conventions of modern and contemporary form with his post Expressionistic style. One of a kind artwork.
