EARLY 20TH C ENGLISH SHEFFIELD PLATE GALLERY TRAY - An antique early 20th century English silver and copper-plated footed serving tray. The tray has a curved oval shape. Standing rim with pierced decor and handles. The surface of the piece is garnished with ornamental engraving. Inscription on the bottom: A Reproduction, Sheffield Plate, Made in Sheffield England, P. Sheffield plate is a layered combination of silver and copper, a technique which was invented by Thomas Boulsover of Sheffields Cutlers Company in 1743.
