Inscribed lower left. The painting is surrounded by silk fabrics with floral and foliage motifs. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. Kitagawa Utamaro was a Japanese painter, specialist in ukiyo e. He is particularly known for his depictions of pretty women bijin ga, but his work also includes many nature and animal scenes, as well as erotic albums shunga.
