An antique Russian Orthodox icon of The Fiery Ascension of the Prophet Elijah. The hand painted icon with egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on the wood panel. Inscribed upper to the center. Circa: 1900s. Prophet Elijah is one of the most revered Old Testament saints in Rus. The plot of the icon, The Fiery Ascent of Elijah the Prophet, includes several scenes from the texts of the Old Testament. The icon can be attributed to the type of life.
