MONUMENTAL RUSSIAN SILVER GILT SOUP TUREEN W GEMS
A highly collectible monumental Russian silver gilt soup tureen raised on a circular stand decorated with applied medallions depicting rocaille foliage and Russian Imperial double-headed eagles with round shields inscribed in Russian: For Faith and Loyalty, the motto of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called, set with a green gem stone cabochon to the center, raised on four paw feet with winged cherubs on top. The tureen is elongated, flanked by two scrolled handles surmounted by the heads of a bearded man. The matched lid is decorated with applied elements depicting sphinxes, floral garlands and relief busts, set with cut gemstones, most likely rubies and diamonds.
