NIKOLAI BODAREVSKY ANTIQUE RUSSIAN OIL PAINTING
An antique oil on canvas painting, Woman with cat, by Nikolai Bodarevsky, Russian, Ukrainian, 1850 to 1924. Signed and dated 1905 lower right. Stamped on canvas verso. Original giltwood ornate oval frame. Note: Nikolai Kornilievich Bodarevsky was a Ukrainian-born Russian painter and art professor. In 1880, he began to exhibit with the Peredvizhniki. He became a member in 1884 and continued exhibiting with them until 1918. After becoming acquainted with the works of Whistler, he painted numerous female portraits in a similar style, including one of Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. One of a kind artwork.
