A large antique Japanese Meiji period bronze vase of the oval form with a crimped mouth. Modeled as a treasure sack of Hotei, Buddhist god of happiness, tied at the neck with a tassel cord and cast in relief with scattered cash, scrolls, musical instruments and Buddhist treasures.
