RUSSIAN ICON MOTHER OF GOD IN SILVER ENAMEL OKLAD - An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Kazan Mother of God. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Gilt silver riza or oklad with repousse decor and cloisonne enamel ornaments. Hallmark of 84 silver standard and makers marks are on the side of the riza. The backside of the icon is covered with red velvet. Mother of God of Kazan icon is known as the Holy Protectress of Russia. Russian Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.
