LARGE ORIENTAL HAND CARVED JADE BEAD NECKLACE - An Antique Oriental single strand of carved jade beads in large size. The design of the beads is directly associated to Taoist and Buddhist traditions and was used through milleniums for praying rosaries and other mystical related amulets. These very large beads are commonly found in Hediao fruit pits carvings and the jade versions require extremely skillful hand craftship. The individual designs for the carvings are Asian folk and religious themes and motifs like lotus flowers, dragons, Qilin and good luck characters. Across centuries the jade beads were used not only for personal praying but as Feng Shui accessories due its spiritual and medicinal significance on traditional East Asia cultural traditions.
