ANTIQUE BYZANTINE CAST BRONZE RELIQUARY CROSS
An antique Byzantine cast bronze reliquary cross, known as an enkolpion, with a hinge suspension loop. It depicts an engraved image of crucified Jesus Christ, arms outstretched upon the cross. He wears a collobium, a sleeveless garment. The reverse features simple engrave decorations. Reliquary crosses were popular in the Orthodox world in the Byzantine and post Byzantine centuries.
