ANTIQUE LIMOGES BRONZE ENAMEL PLAQUE VIA DOLOROSA
An antique 19th-century French enameled gilt bronze wall plaque. The hand-painted enamel part has a right angled quatrefoil shape. The piece depicts Christ at Pilate's Trial, a scene from the Stations of the Cross, also known as Via Dolorosa or Via Crucis, a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion. Monochrome color palette with gilt accents. Signed with initials in the lower left and right, EP and SE. There is a suspension ring on the backside.
