Paul Jenkins, American, 1923 to 2012, color lithograph on paper, Earth Day, 1971, was created for a 1971 Earth Day poster, the second Earth Day celebration. Signed lower left. Titled and dated in the print upper left. Framed. An example of post World War II American abstraction by Paul Jenkins, one of the masters of controlled paint pouring and canvas manipulation so as to allow the paint to pool and roll across the canvas without the use of a paintbrush, so as to achieve glorious veils of translucent and transparent colors. Paul Jenkins is known for Abstract Expressionist painting. Paul Jenkins, a colorful Abstract Expressionist who came of age during the heyday of the New York School and for several decades carried on its highly physical tradition of manipulating paint and canvas.
