ANTIQUE KPM POTPOURRI PORCELAIN VASE GERMANY 1900

A very high quality German potpourri lidded vase dated circa 1900. The baluster shaped body is decorated with skillfully modeled flowers in high relief, a pale yellow ribbon in winds around the body of the vase, accented with gilding and flanked by figural leaf handles. The obverse is decorated with floral arrangements in fine polychrome painting. The lid is adorned with gilding, pierced through elements and relief flowers on the top. Bears a KPM red imperial orb mark on the bottom. The Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin abbreviated as KPM was founded in 1763 by King Frederick II of Prussia. Its actual origins, however, lie in three private enterprises which, under crown patronage, were trying to establish the production of porcelain in Berlin from the mid-18th century onwards. KPM has produced a number of dishware forms and porcelain figurines throughout its history. Some forms have hardly changed their shape in over 200 years of production. Frederick the Great, who, as the owner, jokingly referred to himself as his own best customer, was under the spell of the Rococo style. Antique German Decorative Objects, Collectible Porcelain Vases And Vessels For Home Decor.
