A large German Neoclassical glazed white porcelain group. The item represents four women impersonating different ages playing the game of dice. Two cherubs with a heart basket are depicted underneath the game table. The clothes of the figures and ornaments on the base are gilt. Marked with a Royal Vienna Beehive or Shield blue ink mark. Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, a porcelain manufacturer in Alsergrund in Vienna, Austria. It was founded in 1718 and continued until 1864. The firm was Europes second-oldest porcelain factory after Meissen porcelain. Initially it was a private enterprise, founded by Claude du Paquier, an official of the Viennese Imperial court, but in 1744 it was bought by the Empress Maria Theresa, and thereafter remained an asset of the emperors.
