JOHN THE BAPTIST RUSSIAN ICON IN 84 SILVER OKLAD - An antique Russian Orthodox icon of John The Precursor From a Deesis. The hand painted icon with egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood panel. Inscribed upper to the center. Circa: late 19th century. The icon is overlaid with a chased 84 silver oklad or riza, made in scrollwork and foliage designs. The oklad is marked with a standard Silver hallmark and other Cyrillic and Assay marks. Antique Russian Religious Items and Collectibles. Dimensions: Icon 15 1/4 x 12 1/2 in.
