The icon depicts St Dmitry of Saloniki, Saint Demetrius or Demetrios of Thessalonica, on horseback slaying the enemy. The mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Titled upper to the center. Inscribed and dated 1886, lower to the center. Demetrius of Thessaloniki, is also known as Demetrius the Myriotochets, a Christian saint revered in the face of the great martyrs. Antique Greek Religious items and Collectibles.
