ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ICON VIRGIN MARY WITH BABY JESUS - An antique late 19th century to early 20th century Russian Orthodox icon depicting Virgin Mary with baby Jesus in the Hodegetria iconography. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. In Hodegetria iconography Mother of Gods head usually inclines towards the child, who raises his hand in a blessing gesture.
