KPM GERMAN HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN PLAQUE, 19TH C
A high quality German KPM manufacture hand painted on porcelain picture of a young red haired woman. Signed by the artist lower right: Bork. Bears scepter and KPM impressed marks verso. Painted circa 1875. Housed in a gilt and black painted wooden frame. The Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin abbreviated as KPM was founded in 1763 by King Frederick II of Prussia. Its actual origins, however, lie in three private enterprises which, under crown patronage, were trying to establish the production of porcelain in Berlin from the mid-18th century onwards.
