An antique cast bronze sculpture representing a beautifully detailed figure of a young ephebe playing with a cat, signed to the base: Clement Leopold Steiner and features a Bronze Masters Foundry coin mark. Raised on a round green marble pedestal. The surface is covered with a nice brown patina. Clement Leopold Steiner, 1853 to 1899, was a famed French sculptor. Steiner studied art at the School of Fine Arts of Paris and was a pupil of Fran Alois Jouffroy and Aimi Millet. In 1875 Leopold won the competition organized by the city of Paris to create the Monument of Defense of the city. Also in the same year he received a mention and his first piece was presented to the Salon. Leopold Steiner received a first class medal at the 1884 Salon for his Sculpture Berger and Sylvain, which was later acquired by the French state, and a statue of Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle, which was installed at Choisy-le-Roi. In 1889, Leopold Steiner received a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition for his body of work Leopold Steiner participated in the decoration of the mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte, avenue of Jena in Paris and that of the Castle of Franconville. His last work, Pegasus Held by Fame of War, was one of four groups at the end of his golden age. Antique European Metalware, Classic Bronze Sculpture For Collectors.
