FRENCH ALEXANDER CALDER ISSUE DERRIERE LE MIROIR

A vintage French issue of Derriere le Miroir No. 156, February 1966, dedicated to Alexander Calder. The issue features a color lithograph, Sun. Signed in the plate with a mongram lower right. Completed with black and white photos and printed texts. Derriere le Miroir, DLM, was a deluxe French periodical published by the gallerist Aime Maeght published without interruption between 1946 and 1982. Its issues were profusely illustrated by original prints, many color stone lithographs, by many leading artists including Braque, Chagall, Calder, Kelly, Leger, Matisse, Miro, and Bacon. Essays were contributed by such literary luminaries as Guillaume Apollinaire and Jacques Prevert. Alexander Calder, 1898 to 1976, was an American sculptor known both for his innovative mobiles, kinetic sculptures powered by motors or air currents, that embrace chance in their aesthetic, his static stabiles, and his monumental public sculptures. Graphic Art Prints and Collectibles.
