The collection includes a group of The Liberty Head nickel, sometimes referred to as the V nickel because of its reverse design, adorned with a left facing image of the goddess of Liberty, dated from 1901 to 1912; a group of Buffalo Nickel or Indian Head nickel is a five cent piece that was struck by the United States Mint from 1913 to 1938 and was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser, adorned with an American bison on the reverse; a group of Jefferson nickels, the five cent coins struck by the United States Mint since 1938, when it replaced the Buffalo nickel, from 1938 until 2004, the copper nickel coins obverse featured a profile depiction of founding father and third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson by artist Felix Schlag; a group of The Jefferson Silver Nickel, also known as the Wartime Nickel, was struck by the United States Mint from 1942 to 1945 from a composition of 35 percents silver and adorned with a large mintmark above the image of Monticello on the reverse.
