AMERICAN PHOTO GRAVURE BY GEORGE HENRY SEELEY
George Henry Seeley, American, 1880 to 1955, photo gravure on platinum paper, Spring. Circa: 1910s. Matted, Inscribed on the back. Covered with Non-Glare glass. Non-Glare Glass is produced by etching (via acid bath) one or both surfaces of the glass. The etching process is very precise and leaves the glass with an incredibly consistent etched finish across the entire surface. This etched surface disperses light as it hits the surface of the glass, virtually eliminating glare. George Seeley was a student of painting and drawing in Boston when he met Fred Holland Day, who introduced him to the pictorial possibilities of photography. His debut came in 1904, when Seeley exhibited fourteen photographs in the First American Photographic Salon in New York. Antique Photogravures, Photos, Graphic Art Prints, and Collectibles.
Dimensions: Matboard 20 x 16 in. Image 8 1/4 x 7 in. All measurements are approximate.
