ANTIQUE FRENCH CREIL MONTH ZODIAC PLATE, 19TH C. - A rare French early 19th century octagonal Creil creamware plate decorated with a pale green border and a finely detailed grisaille transfer print depicting an allegorical scene with the month of December as a winged man with the sign of Capricorn at his feet, titled in French: Decembre. No visible marks. Creamware is glazed earthenware pottery of a rich cream color, developed by Josiah Wedgwood in about 1760.
