ORIGINAL VAN CLEEF AND ARPELS POSTER BY HEROUARD

An original antique 1910s advertisement for Van Cleef and Aprels, a French jewelry manufacture. An ad for one of the first iconic jewelry, Le Touch Wood, a series of wooden rings and bracelets introduced in 1916. The color print depicts a young woman choosing rings from a seller's box, both characters are dressed in medieval costumes. Signed Herouard in the lower left and the upper right. Signed La Vie Parisienne in the upper left. Insciption in French on the bottom: Le Touch-Wood, For a talisman of tender hope Of rich jewels gold is without value, This discreet ring of good French wood Will bring good luck to my cavalier.
