ANTIQUE JAPANESE SATSUMA PORCELAIN DRAGON TEA SET
An antique Japanese tea set. A total of four items including two pots, a creamer, and a sugar bowl. All pieces are handled and lidded, the lids and the spouts are executed in the form of dragons cover with gilding. The bodies of the items are hand-painted with depictions of Japanese warriors, monks, officials. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province. Since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated. All pieces have hieroglyphical hallmarks on the bottoms. Late Meiji era, 1868-1913.
