A Buddhist silk painting from Nepal. Thangka, also known as Tanka, is a Tibetan Buddhist painting that serves as a teaching tool. The tanka in this lot depicts Buddha Shakyamuni seated on the Throne of Enlightenment in the center. Buddha is surrounded by small elaborate scenes that represent events from his life. The painting is mounted on a patterned textile backing. Collectible Oriental Religious Art.
