THREE VICTORIAN GERMAN METAL SILVER MESH PURSES
A collection of three Victorian era or Art Deco style womens metal handbag mesh purses. One purse is adorned with a relief silver top with a clasp, marked with engraving German Silver. One bronze tone purse is decorated with overhead round metal plexus. Woven mesh purses were made as early as the 1820s. This labor intensive work was done by hand and often woven with gold or silver. By, the late 19th century, lesser materials such as steel and nickel were used, but the manufacturing process was still painstakingly done.Antique and Vintage Purses, Bags, Fashion, Clothes and Collectibles.
