TRIBAL BETELNUT BOTTLES TIMOR ISLAND ARTIFACTS
Pair of vintage 1950s lime containers Atoni People Amanatun District from the Highlands of West Timor with a carved etched motif "kaif", symbol of kinship and power. One piece made with bamboo and the other ox horn. The decoration goes all around into the surface and the bottle is sealed with wood stoppers having a totemic figure as accent. The artifacts have a mature patina and is in vintage condition. The patina is deep and rich original sign of antiquity. The Highland Atoni People have always been enthusiastic practitioners of the betel nut ceremony which has both formal and informal formats. Ethnic Home Decor, Boho Ethnic Collectibles.
