An antique Russian Orthodox Soothe My Sorrows hand painted icon. Mary inclines her head to the left, and her son’s head is on the left, facing right. The scroll held by the Christ Child bears the inscription from Zachariah 7:9-10 and starts with Judge righteous judgment. Gesso, tempera and gold leaf on a wood board. Circa the 19th century. Collectible Religious Artworks.
