CHINESE OIL PAINTING STILL LIFE CHAIR SIGNED
A vintage Chinese oil painting on canvas depicting a still life with a chair. Signed by the artist with Hieroglyphs, Xu, lower right. Framed. One of the most famous still lifes with a chair was painted by Vincent Van Gogh. Van Goghs Chair, 1888. In early December 1888, Van Gogh started a pair of paintings depicting a Gauguin chair and his own. These paintings are not simply still lifes, but rather iconographies, recalling the allegorical use of motifs in 17th century still life. One of a kind artwork.
