Anatoli Lvovich Kaplan (Russian, Israeli, 1903-1980) original color lithograph on paper, Eleventh Chapter: The Heartbreak from The Bewitched Tailor by Sholem Aleichem, 1947-1953. Signed in pencil, lower right. Titled in pencil, lower left. Framed. Throughout his life, Anatoly Kaplan's work was closely associated with Jewish folklore and Yiddish literature; he illustrated the works of a number of Jewish writers, including the classics of Jewish literature, as well as Jewish folk songs.
