AN ANTIQUE JAPANESE NETSUKE ZEN BUDDHIST
Late Edo period Japanese netsuke, depicting a Zen Buddhist priest with a hossu (stuff with bundled hair). A bowl with a cut-through stand is carved next to the figure of the priest. Various textures of materials are skillfully imitated, all details are meticulously executed. On the bottom, inside the stand, a hieroglyphic signature is carved, and on the figure of the priest, there are two holes for attaching the cord. Circa: the 19th century.
