A WWII GERMAN 3RD REICH RUSSIAN COSSACK BADGE
This badge was given to members of the 5th Don Cossack Regiment, which was the first fully Russian unit in the German Army. The backside features a vertical style pinback and the mark MUNCHEN 9. In October of 1941, an entire Cossack Regiment, along with all of its Officers, decided to desert the Red Army and join the German forces, which lead to the eventual creation of the 5th Don Cossack Regiment.
