A WOODCUT FOR THE NOVEL ANNA KARENINA N PISKAREV
A woodcut by Nikolai Piskarev "Meeting of Levin and Kitty" for the novel by Lev Tolstoy "Anna Karenina".Piskarev Nikolay (1892 - 1959), Russian and Soviet artist, graphic artist. Participant of exhibitions since 1915. He studied at the Moscow Stroganov School of Art and Industry in the sculpture workshop (1904-1909) and the graphic workshop (1909-1916), took woodcut lessons from I.N. Pavlov. He lived in Moscow. He worked in the field of easel and book graphics in the techniques of woodcut, linocut, watercolor, gouache and pastel. He gained fame as a master of black and white and color woodcut. Circa 1933.
