Antique Compass Variation Quilt - Antique Compass Variation Quilt measuring 89”x107”. Quilt found in Missouri. Compass blocks based on 10 divisions, an unusual variation. Blocks pieced of fabrics that look to be from before 1840, but sashing of many indigo blue prints in the triangles look to date from end of the 19th century, as does the fan quilting. The compass blocks are pieced of small pieces of a wide array of terrific prints. Date then: Blocks 1820-1840, set & quilt 1890-1920. It is in fair condition with overall toning, scattered spots, and fabric deterioration in many of the prints. There is also overall edge wear. This quilt was generously donated to AQSG by Barbara Brackman
