VE Day was celebrated in the Land of Israel and became an off-work day. VE Day is the day of unconditional surrender that took place on 7.5.1945 and began officially on the 8.5.1945. The allies decided to announce it publicly only on 9.5.1945 and despite this plan the news got leaked to the West and mass celebrations broke out already on , may 8th. The main celebrations were mostly in London where over a million people celebrated the day of victory as well as, obviously, around the world.
