A Victorian 18K Yellow Gold, Demantoid Nature Brooch - an elegant brooch with satin and brush finish depicting a natural scene consisting of a bird protecting a nest of seed pearls from a lizard with green, yellow, black and red enamelling. Carved leaves, branches and flowers containing four round and oval mixed cut demantoid garnets measuring approximately 3.5 mm in diameter. Weight: 18.5 grams Dimensions: 4.8 x 4.2 cm Condition: All of the stones are securely set in the brooch. The hinged pin stem and and locking mechanism are tight and functioning properly. The enamelling is in very good condition Signs of an early repair on the reverse of the brooch are visible.
