GERMAN ANTI-SEMITIC ”TEACHING AIDE” - Color plate from the infamous 1939 release ”Erblehre, Abstammungs- und Rassenkunde in bildicher Darstellung” (”Heredity, Pedigree and Race Knowledge in Pictorial Representation” created by Alfred Vogel in 1939, from a set of posters intended for school-room instruction to teach Nazi theories of race, including their pseudo-scientific basis in genetics. This example, p. 71, measures 15.5 x 11.5 in. and bears a caricature of a ”Jew” at center. It purports to show the percentage of professional positions held by Jews in Berlin, including physicians (42%), theater owners (80%), hospital directors (45%), lawyers (48%), pharmacists (28%), etc. At bottom appears the quotation ”The Jew is our misfortune”, most commonly seen in Julius Streicher's ”Der Sturmer” newspaper.
