JEWISH RESORT OF NORDERNEY SOUVENIR BOOK, CA. 1895 - Rare ca. 1895 souvenir book sold in the North Sea resort of Norderney, Germany which catered largely to Germany's Jews who were banned or shunned at other seaside resorts such as Borkum, which billed itself as ”Jew-free”. The 5 x 6 in. red cloth book bears a gilt-embossed cover and is entitled: ”Souvenir of Norderney”. Within are 45 artist's images of various buildings, beach scenes, etc. from the accommodating town, some showing Jewish women with head scarves, the ”Womens' Beach”, ”Men's Beach”, a synagogue, and a number of hotels, one with the notice to Jews: ”German House”, ie: off limits to Jews. Covers are scuffed and slightly stained, contents are very good
