ABRAHAM BALDWIN - (1754 - 1807) American minister, patriot, politician, and Signer of the Constitution. After the Revolutionary War, Baldwin became a lawyer and moved from Connecticut to Georgia in the mid-1780s where he founded the University of Georgia. Very rare franking signature 'Free Abr Baldwin' with a fraction of the addressee's name: 'Esqr', 3 x 2.25 in., mounted. Contemporaneously, an unknown person drew a star on and around the signature. Mounted. Estimated accordingly. Baldwin is the rarest of all signers of the Constitution.
