THOMAS LYNCH, JR. - (1749 - 1779) Signer of the Declaration of Independence as a representative of South Carolina, the second rarest of all of the Signers. A LYNCH SIGNATURE WITH PROVENANCE FROM CHARLES HAMILTON Exceedingly rare black ink signature 'Lynch' with additional text in his hand, boldly penned on a 1.75 x 1 in. slip. Very fine condition. The slip has been mounted beneath an early engraving, the two matted in blue moire with a ca. 1860's engraving showing the signing of the declaration of Independence opposite. Presented in a navy blue embossed leather binder with gold embossed title: 'Thomas Lynch, Jr. One of the Rarest Signers of the Declaration of Independence'. This signature was purchased from widely-recognized stamp dealers Matthew Bennett in 2007. It is accompanied by a copy of the original certificate of authenticity issued by autograph expert, author and auctioneer Charles Hamilton.
