UNION SIXTH CORPS BADGE - Rare Civil War-date corps badge from the Union Sixth Corps, approx. 1.5 in. square, formed as a brass cross bearing a white enamel center with a period 4-pin attachment on the reverse. Some cracks to the enamel, else fine. From the renowned collection of author and historian J. Duncan Campbell. Offered from an expansive grouping of Civil War corps badges consigned to us, many of which also originate from Campbell's collection. The VI Corps served in both the Army of the Shenandoah and the Army of the Potomac throughout different points in the war, fighting in the battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and in the Battle of Cedar Creek under Gen. Philip Sheridan.
