NINTH ARMY CORPS INSIGNIA - Ornate brass badge worn by a Union soldier of the Ninth Army Corps, 1.5 x 1 in., constructed of brass in a shield shape, showing a crossed anchor and cannon in relief atop a pebbled background. No pin present on the reverse, yet shows no signs of ever having one, thus is likely an unissued example. Fine condition. The IX Corps, under the notable command of Gen. Ambrose Burnside, distinguished itself in combat throughout many critical battles, including the Second Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of Antietam, the Battle of Fredericksburg, and the Vicksburg Campaign.
