EXCAVATED UNION CAP BOX FROM 'SEVEN DAYS' BATTLEFIELD - A scarce relic, a weathered cap box once belonging to a Union soldier, 3 x 3 x 1.75 in, constructed of leather and closed with two overlapping flaps at top. A separate slip of paper, included with the lot, indicates it was found '100 years after it was lost in [the] 7 Days Battle' - a series of seven battles near Richmond in which Robert E. Lee drove the invading Union Army of the Potomac, commanded by George McClellan, away from the Confederate capital. In relic condition.
