JOHN S. BOWEN - (1830 - 1863) Confederate major general who was wounded at the battle of Shiloh. He later died, as a P.O.W, days after the surrender of Vicksburg - a victim of the harsh campaign to save the city. Black ink signature on a 2.5 in. x 3.5 in. sheet cut from another document.
