Rare war-date signed endorsement adding rank on a 4 x 2 in. section cut from a document, Apr. 19, 1863, 'Hd Qrs 4th Mil Dist. Dept Miss. C.S.A. Jackson', in full: 'Respectfully returned to Dept. Hd. Qrs. with the name of Lt. Alex Trotter, Co. 'D' 14th [?] Regt' Old glue stain at top and a few stray marks, else very good.
