WARREN - (1830 - 1882) Union major general who fought at Antietam, Fredericksburg, and at Gettysburg, where he is credited with saving the Union left flank from being rolled up by a Confederate attack on Little Round Top. Manuscript L.S. on 'Engineer Office U.S. Army' letterhead, 1p. 4to., Newport, RI, June 22, 1876 to the Collector of Customs in Edgartown asking for the amount of revenue collected during the fiscal year. Toned at margins, very good.
