(1746 - 1827) French general under the First Republic and First Empire, distinguished himself at the Battle of Valmy and later appointed Baron of the Empire. Great content A.L.S. 'la Barolliere' on his official military stationary, 2pp. folio, addressed to the Minister of War, asking for further information about the Captain of the 4th Company of Artillery Workers in Brest, who was denounced for carelessly using the materials of the arsenal. Barollie defends the captain's character, adding: '...I am certain that this officer is constantly on top of his duties to his country...' The left and right edges are reinforced on the verso, some archival tape on the verso, else fine.
